Co-op Update and Beta News!


Hello Everyone! It's been over a month since the previous major Plague Breaker update, but this one is a big one and is definitely worth the wait! With this new update, Local Co-op is now playable! There are also some new enemies, new rooms and new items. There will be a big list of changes at the end of this post.

Local Co-op

Yes that's right, Local co-op is now playable! Each player can pick their starting class and level up their character independently of the other player. Gold is shared, but items are not. To play Co-op you just have to click the "Enable Multiplayer" button in the character select screen. One player must use the Keyboard and the other must use a Controller. There will be a future update allowing multiple controllers, but for now this is the only configuration. Keys can be rebound as if you were in single player mode.

There are a few known bugs here, such as each player having their own shop. For now I'll just consider this a feature but it is something I'd like to fix. There also isn't any way to share items, but that will come soon as well. 

New Enemies and Content

New in this dungeon as some Variants to each Archer: Fire, Ice and Poison. These add some variety and add some further use to the new items (Ring of Poison Resistance and Ring of Fire Resistance). There is also a new Mimic enemy which can appear if you kill the new Game Show Host!

Game Show Host? Yes that's right, you can try your luck and spin the wheel! Or pick a chest and hope you guess correctly. I don't have a good name for him yet, so for now he's just Game Show Host. If you have a better name, leave a comment!


Beta and Future Updates

So now onto the future: The Beta. 

Until now Plague Breaker has just been a demo that I've been adding onto. While I will be keeping the demo up to date with bug fixes, it's time that I stopped adding so much new content to it. I have a new boss, a new area and a lot of new enemies, which I think is enough content that its worthy of it's on (paid) version. This update will be coming soon, likely in a couple weeks or so as I finish polishing up some bugs and add new items. I intend to sell it on itch for $5 each.

A big update will be released when that time comes with a complete feature list, but look forward to the Library, a new Acolyte boss, new enemies, a ton of new items and a SECRET new feature which I am very excited for.

Although the demo is far from over, I'd like to thank everyone who's playtested it and helped improve Plague Breaker so far. I appreciate all of you and I look forward to hearing even more feedback! Keep up with the feedback and bug fixes so that Plague Breaker can be the awesome game we want it to be!

Changelog

Added:

- Added Fire and Poison resistance rings
- Spin the wheel! Theres a new NPC that lets you gamble gold, either for the chance at spinning the wheel of fate, or picking a chest.

- Items now automatically equip if you have a free slot. If all slots are full it will ask you if you want to swap out an item.

- Class colour is now reflected in the loading screens and when you reload a save
- Music now plays in Tutorial
- Fixed bug where quiver worked on all weapons
- Fixed bug where poison vial stayed active on ranged weapons
- Weapon slots are in the correct order in the inventory
- Lots of other small fixes
